1. Do students wear uniforms?


3K & 4K students do not wear uniforms. All other students are required to wear the uniform as described in the dress code of the parent handbook.


2. How do I get involved at St. Charles School?


We believe that everyone - kids, parents, and the school benefits when parents are involved. Parents are asked to volunteer 50 hours per family during the school year; 25 hours for 1/2 day 4K parents, hours are pro-rated for 3K families.  Parent’s volunteer obligation may be waived for a fee. Volunteer positions are posted on our website under Parent Resources and are also listed in the school newsletter. 


3. What is the Buddy Program?


The buddy Family Program is a way for us to welcome you to the St. Charles community and help you get to know other parents. Each new family is paired with a current family with children in the same grade. Your buddy family should contact you to answer your questions and invite you to the first few school functions.


4. How is school news sent home?


Every Wednesday a Weekly Run Down or Newsletter email is sent out to all families. Every other Wednesday, an envelope is sent home with the oldest child in the family that contains important notices about activities. Important dates, forms and other important information is also posted on the school website. These are the main vehicles of communication between parents and school.   


5. Can my child receive special assistance? 


Children requiring special therapy in speech or other areas are eligible for therapy through the Hartland/Lakeside School district upon evaluation by the district. Currently speech therapy is available through Hartland/Lakeside on-site at St. Charles. 


6. Is busing provided at St. Charles? 


Yes, busing is provided to all students residing in the Arrowhead School district through Dousman Transportation.


7. How do St. Charles students compare academically to their public and private school peers?  


As compared to Arrowhead Area Schools, our students match or exceed performance on standardized tests on a consistent basis.  Our graduates are always amongst those having the highest cumulative GPAs at their high school of choice, whether it be public or Catholic.  This has been true for decades.


8. How is religious education integrated into the classroom curriculum?


Religious education is an integral part of the curriculum on a daily basis. Classroom prayer is a daily activity. Formal religion instruction increases in frequency and intensity as students progress through grade levels. Regardless of the amount of formal instruction that takes place in a particular grade level, our faith is at the very center of all that students do at St. Charles School.


9. Do students attend weekly mass? 


Depending on readiness, 3K students may attend mass. Students in 4K attend mass on holy days and other special occasions. 5K students begin attending mass after the first few months of school beginning monthly and ending the year on a bi-weekly basis.  1st – 8th grade students attend mass weekly. All School masses occur once per month while grade “cluster” masses occur weekly. 


10. Is hot lunch offered at St. Charles? 


Yes, our hot lunch program is offered to all students through Taher Inc. Please refer to our website under Parent Resources in the left navigation bar for more information. 


11. Does St. Charles have a PTO? 


Yes, St. Charles has a Home and School Committee, which is responsible for organizing our Dinner Dance/Auction, Fish Fries, SCRIP program and other fundraisers. The Home and School Committee welcomes parent involvement at their monthly meetings on the 1st Tuesday of each month. St. Charles also has a School Committee which is similar to a School Board. This committee along with the parish council is responsible for setting tuition, budgets, school policy, reviewing technology, school marketing and other policies. The School Committee also welcomes parent involvement at its meetings on the third Tuesday of each month.


12. Does St. Charles offer sports? 


Yes, St. Charles offers athletics to students in grades 5 – 8. Sports included are volleyball, basketball, track and cross country. Please refer to the St. Charles Athletics website for more information.  Please stop by for a tour of our fantastic Recreation Center!


13. Does St. Charles offer an after school care program? 


Yes, St. Charles offers on-site after school care for 3K & 4K students at the completion of their day along with all other students up till 6:00 pm.  Please refer to our website under Parent Resources/After School Care for more information.
