Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do students wear uniforms?

3K & 4K students do not wear uniforms. All other students are required to wear the uniform as described in the dress code of the parent handbook.

2. How do I get involved at St. Charles School?

We believe that everyone - kids, parents, and the school benefits when parents are involved. Parents are asked for 40 service hours per family during the school year; 20 hours for 1/2 day 4K parents, 10 hours for less than 1/2 day families.  Parents' service obligation may be bought out at $10/hour. Service opportunities are posted on our website and are also listed in the school weekly rundown.

3. What is the Buddy Program?

The buddy Family Program is a way for us to welcome you to the St. Charles community and help you get to know other parents. Each new family is paired with a current family with children in the same grade. Your buddy family should contact you to answer your questions and invite you to the first few school functions. Please contact Jessica Sternkopf with questions.

4. How is school news sent home?

Every Wednesday a Weekly Run Down or Newsletter email is sent out to all families. Important dates, forms and other important information is also posted on the school website. These are the main vehicles of communication between parents and school.

5. Can my child receive special assistance?

Children requiring special therapy in speech or other areas are eligible for therapy through the Hartland/Lakeside School district upon evaluation by the district. Currently speech therapy is available through Hartland/Lakeside on-site at St. Charles.

7. How do St. Charles students compare academically to their public and private school peers?

As compared to Arrowhead Area Schools, our students match or exceed performance on standardized tests on a consistent basis.  Our graduates are always amongst those having the highest cumulative GPAs at their high school of choice, whether it be public or Catholic.  This has been true for decades.

8. How is religious education integrated into the classroom curriculum?

Religious education is an integral part of the curriculum on a daily basis. Classroom prayer is a daily activity. Formal religion instruction increases in frequency and intensity as students progress through grade levels. Regardless of the amount of formal instruction that takes place in a particular grade level, our faith is at the very center of all that students do at St. Charles School.

9. Do students attend weekly mass?

Depending on readiness, 3K students may attend mass. Students in 4K attend mass on holy days and other special occasions. 5K students begin attending mass after the first few months of school beginning monthly and ending the year on a bi-weekly basis.  1st – 8th grade students attend mass weekly.
