Home and School Charter
HOME AND SCHOOL COMMITTEE CHARTER
Home & School Association serves as the communication link between home (families) and school (teachers, administration and staff). We work together to support St. Charles School and the education of our children. The Association provides educational programs in parenting and related topics, hosts social events, coordinates fund raising efforts, organizes a volunteer force of parents to assist with school events and promotes a greater sense of Christian community and appreciation of Catholic Education. All St. Charles School parent, teachers, administration and staff are members of the Home & School Association.
Chairperson - sets agendas and chairs Home and School Board meeting and general meetings. Prepares annual fund raising commitment and participates in annual school budget process. Prepares annual calendar of events with Board for Family Handbook. Interfaces with Principal and School Board President. Explores and helps coordinate new fundraisers and special events. Represents Home and School at special gatherings.
Secretary - takes minutes of all meetings and maintains a record of these minutes, sends thank you notes, and other business correspondence, keeps list of officers current records attendance at Home and School meetings, and handles the $20 awards at each general home and school meeting.
Treasurer - handles all Home & School finances including: Home & School checking account, fund raiser receipts and disbursements, preparation of a monthly and annual financial report, and organizational budget.
Marketing Coordinator - spearheads all enrollment and public relations efforts as outlined in the Marketing Plan: direct mail, Parent Informational Meeting, Open House for Prospectives, Catholic Education Week, Grandparents’ Day, Fish Frys’, etc. Publicizes school-related events via the newspapers and church bulletin.
Educational Programs Coordinator - sets up educational speakers, programs, workshops with input from the Home and School Board and St. Charles families. Responsible for handling all publicity items related to the educational programs and Catholic School Week.
Hospitality / Special Events Coordinator - initiates and oversees all social and special events including: staffing, refreshment requirements, reservation and set up of facilities.
Volunteer Coordinator - initiates yearly volunteer survey. Finds coordinators for all major Home and School volunteer fund drives. Assists coordinators when necessary to find volunteers.
Fish Fry Coordinator - to coordinate the ordering, staffing, set-up, cooking and serving of fish frys.
Hot Lunch Coordinator - Coordinates the services involved in the Hot Lunch Program: tabulations of menu orders, counting money, picking up food, getting servers.
Market Day Coordinator - collects Market Day orders each month, mails orders to Market Day headquarters, promotes Market Day, coordinates volunteers, and runs the Market Day sale each month.
Breakfast with Santa Coordinator - initiates and oversees all planning. Decorates and does preliminary cooking the day before. Begins preparations on day of event. Also, at the breakfast, is available to all volunteer workers, coordinates entertainment and timing of breakfast seatings. Visits with guests and ensures public relations are satisfactory. Directs clean up operations. Does all follow up communications, parish and Home & School reports.
Magazine Sale Coordinator - works with the principal to establish a detailed plan for initial kick-off, distribution, collection, prizes, etc.
