Dear Parents,
This week we will take the Unit 5.1 Reading Test. I will send the results home as soon as possible.
Reading groups will meet Wednesday and Thursday this week.
We have the Mass tomorrow and again next week for Grandparents\' Day. I will assign the parts for the Grandparents\' Day Mass on Tuesday. If your child is given a part for their grandparent to read with them, please let the grandparent know and provide them with a copy (by email?) if possible. Also, I will be assigning reserved seats for the Grandparents\' Day Mass. If you could email me an approximate number including all of your children that would like to sit together, I will reserve a spot in the front of church, all in one area for everyone. I will provide a map once I have this done.
This week the first graders will begin to study maps and conclude their study of money. Please practice at home if your child is having difficulty with money. Time tests for addition and subtraction continue weekly. Facts should be learned by the end of the year.
Please practice word cards with your child every night. They should keep their recipe boxes with their word cards in their backpacks so that they come home everyday. Once your child knows the words well you may discontinue practicing them. New words this week: these, only, friend, called, pulled. The Spelling words are: roof, fool, zoo, soon, cool, moon. The challenge words are: these, called, only, friend. The Super Challenge word is: ecology.
