It's hard to believe the first quarter is over. In November we have our First Discovery books on display in the easy reader rack. They are such popular little books and obviously well used. Scooby-Doo books are on display in the middle reader rack. All the new Accelerated Reader books are now shelved, soon to be followed by the new book bins. That will clean up the library considerably and make room for our Christmas books which we have in abundance.
We are already thinking about our annual Scholastic Book Fair which will be arriving on January 22. Our student preview will be on January 23 in conjunction with the fish fry. On Sunday the 25th there will be a pancake breakfast and the book fair will be open for that as well as all day Monday. I hope you will consider helping out with some volunteer hours for this event. You will receive a sign up sheet in the brown envelope in January.
The Accelerated Reading program is doing extremely well this year, especially grades 4, 5 and 7. Grades 6 and 8 are behind. Even some second graders are getting involved. Third graders will be taking their test on The Boxcar Children November 6 and 13. Grades 4 and 5 are finishing up listening to books on tape and will be taking their tests as a class, but have done many tests reading independently.
