Hello there-
It is so hard to believe that we are entering the home stretch and only have 5 weeks of school left. This school year has flown by and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I can't wait to get up every morning and come see the kids. Each and every one of them are awesome individuals and I am sure I will shed a few tears as the year comes to an end.
Thanks for all your support with the John Malan vist and your generous donations. I could not have made this happen without each and every parent in my class. It was a wonderful afternoon and it was great to see all the footage on the news.
We are looking forward to our field trip to the Wild West Museum on Tuesday, May 19th. Thanks for all those who have volunteered to chaperone and we are even trying to get Mr. Dunlop to come with us. I definitely encourage the kids to bring cameras and any money they might want to use in the gift shop. We will be gone all day so make sure they bring a brown paper bag lunch that day. (no soda please) Also, keep your eyes open for information regarding a special end of the year field trip that will be going home in Monday's yellow folder.
I also want to thank all of the individuals who donated to the class basket at this year's auction. Our class was able to raise a lot of money and we have been able to order a lot of cool resources for our classroom. Ask the kids about the new computer games, board games, educatinal videos and supplies that we have gotten. We are very fortunate at St. Charles to have such a wonderful opportnity to purchase items to further enrich a child's education. Feel free to stop in and check out some of the cool new things we were able to get.
On Tuesday, May 26th, the influential people project for social studies will be due and we will start our classroom presentations at this point. The final book report will also be due on Friday, June 5th and the kids have an option of four different activities to do. The end of the year states and capitals test will be on Tuesday, June 9th and it will be the exact same formula as we did back in October. No need to worry about correct spellings because they will be provided for them. We will also be having a cumulative spelling test during the last week of school which will consist of 50 previous words from throughout the year. Students will be given a list of these words and I will let them know the date as the time approaches. Do not forget about accelerated reader as the end of the quarter approaches.
Just want to let you know that I will not be in school Wednesday, May 20th because my mom will be having surgery. It is her third shoulder surgery of the year and we are all hoping this will be her last. Although I will miss all my students, I feel that I need to be with my dad during this procedure. Please keep her in your prayers since we are all a little nervous for the outcome. Mrs. Arnt will be with the kids that day and they will be in wonderful and capable hands.
Thanks for all your continued support--
Miss Ritzman
