We have started off the school year with much excitement in our new library located next to the 5th grade classroom.  This location is so much better for most of the students and it is a bigger, brighter room.  If you haven't seen it, be sure to stop in.

Thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who answered the call to come in and help move the library.  It was amazing how quickly it was done just in time for the new school year.  THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Also new to the library are four computers that the students can use to do research and take Accelerated Reading tests.  Fourth grade and up are required to pass one test each quarter but many of the students do more!  Some of the younger grades are now getting involved in the program.

K5, 1st and 2nd grade start library period with a story before checking out their books.  2nd and 3rd grade write down the books that they read and every ten books lets them pick out of the treasure chest that comes out the first week of every month.  3rd grade has a second chart to encourage them to try different types of books.  New to 3rd grade this year, we are listening to Little House On the Prairie on tape and following along in the book.  When we finish the class will take an AR test on it.

4th grade starts off the year listening to Charlotte's Web for the Monday group and Frindl for the Wednesday group.  The 5th grade Monday group listens to Bud, Not Buddy and Where the Red Fern Grows on Wednesday.

As before, K to 3rd grade checks out books for one week.  4th grade and up keep their books for two weeks.  Overdue slips are sent to the teachers every Wednesday.  On display this month are the new library books and magazines.

That is the latest buzz from the library.  Bee happy!
