Wishing everyone a Happy and healthy New Year! It's hard to believe it's already 2010!
We are beginning long division this week. I am confident that this will be a smooth transition as this class has mastered their multiplication facts. I believe they are looking forward to the challenge!
We are discussing Economics in Social Studies. The students have broken up into small groups and are currently beginning to open their own "business" based on the supply and demand concept. They have needed to find investors and come up with a financial plan. One group asked if I could loan them $7,000. I told them that a teacher might not be the best person to ask ;)
We played "Animal Charades" to day to kick off our Science unit on animals. We will be discussing vertebrates, invertebrates, and other ways in which to classify animals.
The next book report is due this upcoming Monday, January 11. Along with the required written report, the students will be constructing a diorama. The diorama should include the main setting, characters, and some sort of plot element. I am super excited to see how these turn out! This class is very creative and thinks outside the box.
We celebrated the sacrament of Reconciliation before Christmas and feel renewed and ready for a new year.
Please feel free to contact me with any concerns or comments. Thank you for your support in learning!
